We Hate Word Salads

We should speak clearly when discussing important processes such as business.

I’m not the first to write about the horrible language used widely in the Internet Marketing business. Terms that you probably use: gobbledygook, gibberish, claptrap, poppycock, balderdash, twaddle, hogwash, malarkey, boloney, wankspeak (british). We don’t like it. No one does. Why do marketing firms continue to use this language when it is widely despised?

We don’t use that language here. (but we are happy to see our competition out themselves when they do)

We believe that using words that are not understandable by the client is denigrating to the client and embarrassing to the user (or should be). “You don’t know [words salad]? You must be dumb.”

The intelligent person can see that these terms are meant to hide lack of performance or experience. Those of us who do understand what those terms mean feel embarrassed for the person doing the word salad waltz.

I will post some examples for posterity – to call them out.
