If you have been following the Google Analytics Direct / None Traffic Issue, There is a new feature / setting in Analytics to filter out bot traffic. In Analytics > Admin > View

The breadcrumb is Administration›Reporting View Settings

Here you should check the box > Exclude all hits from known bots and spiders. See image – bottom.

I cant think of a reason not to filter bot visits. And this may (I have not been able to confirm this yet. But one can hope) filter out the Semalt referrers that plague many sites by flooding analytics with fake traffic (reported).
